A Focus Tool, Not a Toy

Tactyl started because I couldn’t find a fidget that was sleek, premium, and lasted.
Everything
I saw was either overly flashy, noisy, or designed for kids — nothing
that felt like a serious, intentional tool for focus.

I wanted something minimal, built to last, and satisfying to use —
the kind of thing you could keep on your desk or carry in your pocket
without it looking out of place.

When I couldn’t find it, I decided to design it myself.

Designing the First Tactyl

The prototype was born in my workspace. Every function was tested as I
built it — the magnetic slider, the ball bearing, the haptic dome — all
refined so they felt natural and smooth.

I used the prototype while making it. In between design adjustments,
I’d test it during deep work sessions, on calls, and in everyday moments
when I needed something tactile to keep me focused.
